While we’re used to seeing the Texas Tech Red Raiders tear through the skies with a vaunted passing offense, they can’t hold a candle to their opponent in the Week 7 NCAA Football odds.
Oklahoma State has busted in to the AP Top-25 this year with the nation’s second best passing attack, but they’ve suffered some major setbacks in the form of injuries. The task at hands is greater than it ever has been for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Quarterback Brandon Weeden has thrown for 1,610 yards and 18 touchdowns this season while leading the spread busting Oklahoma State Cowboys to an undefeated 5-0 SU record, along with a 4-1 ATS record.
With some great receivers, he’s the head honcho of the 2nd best passing offense in the league, raking in 362.0 passing yards per game.
However, three of Weeden’s wide receivers are hurt and unlikely to play. That includes Hubert Anyiam, Josh Cooper and Michael Harrison, all of whom have contributed to over one-quarter of Weeden’s passing yards.
That shouldn’t deter you from Oklahoma State’s Week 7 NCAA Football odds since his best target – Justin Blackmon – will still suit up. Blackmon has 748 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns this season.

Week 7 NCAA Football Odds: Oklahoma State -3.0 (69.5)
What should be deterring you is the betting history between these two teams. Texas Tech has dominated Oklahoma State in the past nine games, winning every contest. However, that doesn’t mean they’ve covered. In fact, in the last 5 games, Oklahoma State has gone 4-1 ATS when playing the Red Raiders.
But since the Week 7 NCAA Football odds have factored in that this game is in Lubbock, it’s probably noteworthy to mention that Oklahoma State is an atrocious 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games when visiting Texas Tech.
It’s not like Texas Tech has gone without a stern passing game of their own. They rank two spots behind Oklahoma State nationally, posting 333.2 passing yards for the fourth best passing offense in the league. They used that to upset the Baylor Bears 45-38 last week.
Despite the injuries, Oklahoma State is getting the nod from the oddsmakers because of offense. They rank 2nd in the nation in terms of scoring, notching 52.6 points per game and allow 29.2.
That last stat is nothing to smile about for the Cowboys, especially when they’ve proven vulnerable through the air. Oklahoma State has allowed 290.8 passing yards per game this season, which should make you nervous if you’re betting on the Cowboys.
It was easy to right off the Texas Tech Red Raiders after back-to-back losses, but they proved against Baylor at home that they’re not dead weight in the Big 12 yet. Even though the Week 7 NCAA Football odds are against them, I smell an upset coming.
Oklahoma State is becoming too short handed at receiver and they have a terrible history in Lubbock that should rightfully scare you a little.
Familiarity in conference play has a lot to do with upsets. While Texas Tech is nowhere near the pedigree of the new-look Oklahoma State Cowboys, I’m convinced by their win over Baylor that they can put up points when matched up against a weak pass defense.
The Cowboys’ secondary isn’t great, and Texas Tech will expose that flaw in the Week 7 NCAA Football odds.
