MLB Betting Odds: Hot Tampa Bay Rays seek success in Boston

Don't write the obituary for the Tampa Bay Rays just yet. After posting just respectable results over the first four months of the season the Rays have caught fire of late and they may yet just catch the Boston Red Sox for the American League's Wild Card spot.
That would be quite something for anyone who has picked up Tampa Bay on the MLB Betting Odds at the Bodog Sportsbook lately. While the public Red Sox sit at 5/1 odds to win the 2011 World Series and 19/10 odds to claim the AL Pennant this season, the Rays are way back at 50/1 on the World Series odds board and 20/1 on the AL Pennant list.
Tampa Bay swept the Red Sox in a three-game series at home last weekend, and they'll get to put the pressure on even more starting Thursday night when the two AL East clubs begin a crucial four-game series at Fenway Park.
For Tampa Bay, that starts a rough stretch to end the season, with four games against Boston, three against Toronto, and seven against the Yankees. The Red Sox won't have it as tough over the next two weeks – four games against Tampa Bay, three against the Yankees, and seven against the last-place Orioles.
That means it could be now or never for the Rays, who will be looking to take advantage of Boston's ailing pitching staff in their MLB betting matchup this weekend. Red Sox starters Josh Beckett (ankle), Erik Bedard (knee), and John Lackey (calf) have all been dinged up of late.
The Tampa Bay Rays are expected to pitch Jeremy Hellickson (12-10, 2.96 ERA) in the opener on Thursday; he got the ball in last weekend's series against Boston, surrendering three runs on five hits over six innings of work and collecting a no-decision in a 6-5 Tampa Bay victory.
